You’ll need to specify a bit more narrowly what topic you are trying to optimize for. “Maryland” is a big topic.

Once you narrow it down to something like “Hotels in Baltimore”, then you go to the Google Keyword Tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal), and enter your phrase. You will then see what words are related, and the volume of searches that use that phrase per month.
